CameraTechs now has an 85mm f/1.2 Canon SSC FD super high speed short telephoto lens in stock (used, of course). This is the lens that the current EOS L 85/1.2 lens can trace it’s design roots back to. Very little has been changed in the decades between this orignal version, and the current autofocus one, and the superb performance of this lens, especially wide open, is a testament to that. We tested this lens (just couldn’t help ourselves!), and it is indeed significantly shaper than either the Contax Zeiss 85mm f/1.4 or the Tamron 90mm f/2.5 Macro lenses we tested this against. We used Fuji Neopan “Acros” 100, and the results are stunning. This is a world class optic!
